In Pakistan’s healthcare and industrial sectors, the Institute of Pakistan Medical Device Industry (IPMDI) was formally inaugurated in Islamabad, marking a major step toward building a self-reliant, innovation-driven medical device ecosystem in the country.
Speaking on behalf of the Health Services Academy (HSA) in Islamabad, distinguished participants highlighted the strategic importance of building a robust domestic medical device industry to reduce Pakistan’s dependence on imported healthcare technologies and strengthen national health security.
The establishment of IPMDI is expected to accelerate research, innovation, and local manufacturing of high-quality, affordable medical devices tailored to Pakistan’s healthcare needs. The initiative will not only improve healthcare delivery but also stimulate economic growth by creating highly skilled jobs and enhancing the country’s technological capabilities.
The Institute aims to serve as a collaborative platform that brings together academia, industry, regulators, and policymakers to advance research and development, quality manufacturing, regulatory excellence, and international competitiveness.
